Chakras, Crystals and Healing

by Raven and Crone

Our bodies are made up of an electromagnetic energy sometimes referred to as the AURA. The flow of this energy affects our health and well being. The chakras are responsible for directing and distributing this energy through our body. Each chakra is responsible for distributing energy to different organs, muscles and nerves. Through our chakras, we receive and transmit physical, emotional, and spiritual energy. The goal is to have all chakra centers clear, balanced, and vitalized for peak health and well being.

Each chakra is associated with a particular area of the body and a color of the spectrum. Each chakra is said to spin at a different frequency. Through our chakras, we receive and transmit physical, emotional, and spiritual energy. We can bring fresh energy into our body through the chakras that can nourish our organs and glands.   When each chakra spins at its optimal frequency the body radiates perfect health; emotions are centered and balanced and we enjoy a sense of peace.

Chakras can be manipulated to keep the body healthy and emotions centered by using meditation, colors and crystals. Stones are used at chakra centers for clearing, revitalizing, and healing. Generally, the selection of stones for healing corresponds with the associated color of the chakra.

The goal is an overall feeling of good health and inner peace. The chakras are the very essence of your whole being. These are the paths to discover the deeper realities within one self.

When your chakras are not working properly you are unable to move your physical, emotional and mental body onto a higher spiritual level. Each chakra affects different parts of the body and sometimes illness can be caused by poor chakra health. Illness is caused mostly by old patterns, by actions, by fears and by overindulgence, which is usually a sign of anxieties and conflicts. These conflicts create imbalance and disharmony in the body. We are often too focused in the reality and physical being of life to listen to our inner selves. Then the chakras become out of balance and we become prone to illness. The energy imbalance in the chakra affects the health of your physical body.

There are seven major chakras running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.

The root chakra is the first chakra and is located at the base of the spine at the tailbone in back, and the pubic bone in front. It is the energy center that connects us to the earth and our ambitions. On a physical level this chakra controls the back, legs, hips, feet, spine and the circulation of the blood. When not functioning properly, this chakra causes aches, strains and loss of mobility to these areas. When you are trying to make things happen in the physical world, doing business or acquiring possessions, the energy will come from the first chakra.

The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra and is located two inches below the navel. It is rooted into the spine. This is the energy center for passion, creativity and self worth. It also controls the body's organs like the lower sexual organs, the bladder, bowel and lower intestine.  When functioning properly, it helps maintain a healthy yin yang balance. When this chakra is aligned and balanced, you become expressive, creative and spontaneous. When it is not functioning properly, you may have a low self esteem and low sex drive.

The third chakra is the Solar Plexus, located two inches below the breastbone in the center of the torso, behind the stomach. This chakra is the center of personal power, passions, anger and strength. When this chakra is out of balance you may lack confidence, be confused, feel that others are controlling your life, or be depressed. It also controls the upper intestines,  upper back and spine.  When functioning negatively, it can cause a person to be fearful and suffer from a low self esteem. Because it governs the stomach, many ulcers and stomach disorders are brought on by excessive stress and worry.

Heart Chakra is the fourth chakra, located behind the breast bone in front and on the spine between the shoulder blades in back. This is the center for love, compassion and spirituality. This is also the chakra connecting body and mind with spirit. The heart chakra is the main center, or control panel, for our body. When we have problems with this chakra we have problems with our heart, blood, circulation and the vessels that carry the blood, as well as our lungs and how we breathe. We have ribs that protect these areas, but these also become weakened when this center is not functioning properly.

The throat chakra is our fifth chakra and is located in the V of the collarbone at the lower neck. It is the center of communication, sound, and expression of creativity via thought, speech, and writing. The possibility for change, transformation and healing are located here. The throat is where anger is stored and finally released.  On a physical level this chakra includes the throat, thyroid, mouth, teeth, tongue, and jaw. The problems manifest with this chakra, are sore throats and thyroid problems that can lead to a lack of energy, vitality, and weight problems.

Third Eye Chakra is located above the physical eyes on the center of the forehead and is the sixth chakra. It is the center for psychic ability, higher intuition, as well as the energies of spirit and light. On a physical level, this chakra involves the pituitary glands, the skull, eyes, the brain, the nervous system and our senses. If this chakra is unbalanced, we can suffer headaches, sinus and nasal problems and disease within the brain and the skull. This is because we are not living in the physical sense, instead we are in the head; always thinking and worrying about the future instead of living in the now. We can also suffer from different types of mental disorders that are caused through our nervous system.

Crown or seventh chakra is located just beneath the top of the skull. It is the center of spirituality, enlightenment, dynamic thought and energy. It allows for the inward flow of wisdom. The soul comes into the body through the crown at birth and leaves from the crown at death. This chakra encompasses part of the spinal cord, the stem of the brain, pain center of the brain and part of the nerves. When people become sick and suffer a lot of pain that they cannot handle, it is because the energy flow is blocked to this chakra.

Learning how to cleanse the Chakras encourages physical wellness.  Each chakra is related to a certain system and, when they are blocked, energy is unable to flow properly through the body. While chakras funnel energies into our bodies, cleansing with crystals and colors balances the chakras out.   Crystals or stones are used to remove imbalances from the chakras by placing the corresponding colored stone on the appropriate chakra and focusing visual intention. Every person has their preference between crystals or tumbled stones for this cleansing. Generally, the selection of stones or crystals corresponds with the associated color of the chakra. Each chakra has more than one color associated with it, but they each have a primary color.

There are so many crystals that go with the chakras. I have listed just a few below with each chakra.

The root chakra is associated with the color red, so choosing a red stone like red jasper or carnelian have qualities such as strength, grounding and calmness.

The sacral chakra is orange and using carnelian, orange calcite or sunstone, and these stones have strength, mental ability and abundance properties.

Solar Plexus is associated with yellow, and that would indicate stones like citrine, tiger eye and yellow jasper. Each of these stones helps with grounding negativity, increasing prosperity and positive energy.

The heart chakra is represented by the colors green and pink, and emerald, green aventurine, rhodochrosite or rose quartz could be used. These stones for the heart chakra bring love, joy and healing.

The throat chakra is associated with the color turquoise and the stones amazonite, chrysocolla or blue lace agate, all of which have soothing, comforting and calming attributes.

The third eye chakra is indigo and azurite, lapis or sodalite could be used in healing since they can help with mental balance and depression.

The crown chakra is associated with the color purple and fluorite or amethyst could be used. These stones have healing power, can sharpen intellect and center the mind.

By placing a crystal on each chakra you allow the crystals or stones to absorb the negative energy blocking that chakra. All of the stones for each chakra will be accompanied by a clear quartz crystal. Clear quartz transmits energy to the other stones and it channels all the chakra colors.

When working with the individual chakras, you need to recognize the source of disturbance. Explore and find the appropriate chakra associated with the issue. You would need to pick the appropriate crystal and place that crystal on the corresponding chakra. Find your rhythm of breath, visualize yourself drawing in the light, filling up your whole body. The light should correspond to the chakra color.  Feel the positive energy working for you.

Using a combination of meditation and crystals is the best way to align and clear your chakras. The best way to do this is to lie down and allow the crystals to rest directly on the chakras. The person visualizes the color, light, and energy filling the body up and the stone absorbing and taking away the negative energy.

Our mind is always thinking, even in sleep. Energy freely flows to and from the body through the chakras. We learn how to listen to our bodies when the mind is clear.  Meditation gives our mind the rest it needs. Having energy flowing freely from the body through the chakra gives us a well balanced life, physical vitality and helps us to distribute these energies through the body. Chakra balance supports and promotes good health and a sense of well being.

The goal is to have all chakra centers clear, balanced, and vitalized for peak health and well being. True healing is a partnership between the person and the crystals. Letting go of the barriers allows the power to flow in and out. The more open and receptive the patient is the stronger the results. Having faith and belief in the crystals will give the person strength for the healing.  It is a magical experience to see and feel the stones on the body, giving and receiving their energies. When you are done with your meditation, you feel more calm, balanced, open, receptive, and in tune with yourself. With crystals you can re establish your connection with the earth, becoming more accepting of your place and purpose on this planet. By accepting the function of the crystals and meditation your aura should be glowing, your chakras clear and balanced, and your body should be filled with positive energy. Crystals and meditation give us a message of love, beauty and harmony of light. We can open our hearts to the stones and we will find peace.
